Thirty investors show interest in Tuem electronic manufacturing cluster

Goa is coming closer to complete its first Electronic Manufacturing Cluster at Tuem, and the Government has disclosed that 30 investors have expressed interest in the project and concrete applications from two companies for plots. Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant stated that the project with complete infrastructure of road, water and power will be ready for commissioning by March 2022. Further, he said that this project will help achieve the government’s vision of creating jobs for Goans and requested potential investors to collaborate with local engineering colleges at the time of recruiting.

Sawant said that the Government is speeding up the process to see that the project takes off on the promised date. He has assured investors of all the possible support and said that the state IT department will offer every healp to companies wishing to establish units in the EMC.

Sawant added that the screening committee of the department is approving projects as soon as applications are received so that companies can commence construction work of the facility even as remaining infrastructure works go on.

Sawant reached out to investors in the presence of the Minister for IT, Jeniffer Monserrate, Ankita Anand, Director, IT, Nirmod Kumar, Director Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeITy) and senior government officials.

Ankita stated the government has set up Tuem Electronic City Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) company to implement the project and the allotment process would continue until all plots are taken up in the project.

Members of the Goan Industry, Yatin Kakodkar, Secretary, GCCI, Nitin Kuncolienkar, President, MeITy, Atul Jadhav, Chairman, CII – Goa among others were also present at the investor meet.

Around 45 potential investors were present at the meeting who were later taken for a site visit for a close up look at the facilities on offer.
