Cipla Limited, a multinational pharmaceutical company, provided around 1,008 vials of Remdesivir to the state health department.
Remdesivir is one of the most important life-saving antiviral drugs recommended in the latest Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) ‘clinical management’ protocol for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Health Minister, Vishwajit Rane expressed his gratitude to the management of the pharmaceutical company stating that uncontrollable virus replication is one of the main reasons for tissue and deaths in patients infected with the virus. He further mentioned that the drug will help patients with COVID-19 to recover faster.
Umang Vohra, Managing Director and Global CEO of Cipla, assured the Goa government of his support in the battle against the virus.
“As the world gets into grip with the unabated COVID-19 pandemic, it is our foremost priority to ensure access to life-saving treatment. We are pleased to collaborate with Goa’s health department towards enabling access to promising treatments,” he added.
