At the recently held CII Goa Annual Session 2023, the following have been nominated as the Chairperson and Vice Chairman to the CII Goa State Council 2023-24.
Anirudh Agrawal, Chairman, CII Goa State Council and Managing Director, Agrawal Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd is a scion of the illustrious Agrawal family of South Goa. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Government Engineering College, Farmagudi, Goa and completed his MBA from the U.S.A. On return from the U.S., he joined his family business and aspired to start a new venture. Agrawal started the Agrawal Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. to be the first manufacturer of Solar panels in Goa.
He further diversified into the manufacture of EVA sheets and has expanded his solar panels 4 times in a short period of 10 years. He has set up the most robotic solar panel manufacturing unit in India manufacturing very high efficiency panels. His companies also own and operate solar and wind power projects all over the country. Agrawal renewable energy is a leading provider for water pumping systems and has done several projects for the govt as well as private sector. Agrawal is currently the Managing Director of Agrawal Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. Besides his passion for work, he has a passion for social work.
The other businesses include mining, real estate, pharmaceuticals and hospitality. Agrawal is a founder member of Entrepreneurs Organization in Goa and Margao Youth Round Table. Agrawal led the CII Goa Panel on Energy as a Convenor in 2021-22 and the Chairman, CII Goa Membership Panel.
Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay assumed charge of the post of Chairman and Managing Director of Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) in 2022. He holds a B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering and is a fellow member of Institute of Engineers, Kolkata and Institute of Electronic & Telecommunication Engineers, New Delhi. Prior to assuming the charge of CMD, he was the Director (Operations) of GSL responsible for successful execution of new shipbuilding projects. He joined GSL as Graduate Engineer Trainee in year 1991. During his long career of 30 plus years in GSL, he held various key appointments in the functional and operational areas of the organization and has made significant contributions in nearly all verticals viz. ship construction, diversification, indigenization, corporate planning, business development and strategy, ship repairs, infrastructure development and capacity building etc. Upadhyay has been at the helm in increasing GSL’s global outreach and making inroads into untapped global defence market.
He played a major role in bringing new technologies to GSL through transfer of technologies and collaborations with reputed and established international firms. He has been pivotal in setting up of the General Engineering Services stream in the shipyard, marking the beginning of the hugely successful diversification era in GSL. Under his leadership, GSL successfully ventured into innovative products such as multiple variants of Simulators, Shipboard equipments like Fin Stabilizers, Landing Grids etc. These state of the art diversified products not only contribute sizeable share in GSL’s revenue, but also strengthens Govt. initiatives of Indigenization and self-reliance in Defence.
Upadhyay has represented GSL at numerous national and international forums, meetings, seminars, symposiums etc and has successfully leveraged the opportunities in export promotion. He had successfully spearheaded the prestigious export projects of 11 fast interceptor boats to Mauritius and Damage Control Simulator to Myanmar, which has brought laurels to GSL at international level. Known for his strong faith in technology-driven innovations, open communication and goal-oriented working style, Upadhyay is passionate about GSL’s multi-dimensional growth, to make it a global organization, meeting the requirement of domestic as well as foreign customers in shipbuilding and allied areas.
