Bonita celebrates turning one, by doing what it does best; bringing people together with good food, drinks with a promise of good times
August marks a special milestone for Goa’s dynamic culinary landscape as Bonita, the culinary and social hub located on Arossim Beach Road, South Goa, celebrates its first anniversary. In just one year, Bonita has become much more than just a restaurant. It’s grown into a destination in itself, where flavours, music, and spirited ambience come together to offer guests a truly memorable experience.
When Bonita opened its doors in August last year, it did so with a bold vision; to bring a fresh, modern global dining concept to South Goa, something that would blend effortlessly with the state’s soulful charm while also pushing the boundaries of cuisine, design, and experience. Today, that vision stands fully realized. With its lush garden seating, inventive cocktails, and a kitchen that delights in experimentation, Bonita has become a favourite among resort guests, locals, and travellers alike.
From its inception, Bonita has celebrated bold, globally inspired flavours, reimagined with creative flair and refined finesse. The menu reflects an adventurous, travel-driven spirit, featuring indulgent double-smashed burgers, rustic Neapolitan-style pizzas, hearty grilled selections, and succulent, perfectly cooked steaks. The dishes are layered, comforting, and surprising all at once. Whether you are in the mood for Asian street food-inspired small plates, hearty mains, or contemporary takes on classic favourites, Bonita serves it up with panache.
The past year at Bonita has also been about energy and culture. Live music evenings featuring eclectic local talent, mixology pop-ups, themed dinners, and high-energy weekend nights have all added to the restaurant’s vibrant persona. It’s not unusual to see diners transition from a quiet cocktail in the garden to dancing under the stars by the end of the night. Bonita brings people together, over food, over stories, and over a shared love of good times.
But behind all the excitement and aesthetics lies a story of thoughtful craftsmanship. The open kitchen concept invites diners to connect with the culinary team, while the bar offers artisanal cocktails handcrafted with precision. The emphasis is not just on great food and drink, but on delivering a well-rounded sensory experience.
To commemorate this milestone, Bonita is hosting a special three-day weekend celebration from 8th to 10th August, featuring live music and vibrant evenings as a heartfelt tribute to the patrons, staff, and visionaries who shaped its journey. A key highlight is ‘Steak-Over Nights’ with Chef Sanchit on the Grill, where guests can craft their perfect plate by choosing from premium cuts like Fillet Mignon, Ribeye, Picanha, or T-Bone, paired with a sauce, a carb, and a side; from peppercorn or chimichurri to whipped potatoes or frites, and creamed spinach or grilled mushrooms, each combination offering comfort, flavour, and flair.
Reflecting on the journey, Guitry Velho, Director and Vice President of The Heritage Village Resort & Spa, Goa and Bonita, shared:
“Bonita was born out of a desire to create something different, a place where every detail, from the food to the music to the energy, would feel fresh, alive, and unforgettable. Seeing it grow into such a beloved space in just one year has been deeply fulfilling. As we celebrate Bonita turning one, we also celebrate the people, our guests, our team, and our community, who made it possible.”
As Bonita steps into its second year, the vision only grows bolder. Plans are already underway to introduce seasonal tasting menus, immersive wine and cocktail pairings, and collaborations with emerging culinary voices from across the globe. The focus remains clear; celebrate flavour, foster creativity, and keep the Bonita experience ever-evolving.
For those who have been part of Bonita’s first year, it’s been a journey of discovery and joy. And for those who have yet to visit, the coming months promise even more reason to raise a glass under the Goan stars.
