Dr. Priyanka Raikar obtained her Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA which ranks first in the world in the field of occupational therapy. She graduated with an excellent academic record of 93.4% and merit scholarship. Her areas of super specialization are paediatrics and neurology. Dr. Priyanka has attained International Certification for Sensory Integration & Praxis Test (SIPT) & Handwriting Without Tears Program (HWT) from USA. She is the first Indian to attain HWT Certification. During her Master’s Program, she completed her internship at the world renowned Rancho Los Amigos Hospital, Paediatric Therapy Network & Therapy West Clinic in Los Angeles, California, USA.
After graduation, she practiced as a Senior Occupational Therapist at Every Child Achieves and Wellness Works in Hollywood, USA. She was also a Clinical Supervisor for Master’s and Bachelor’s level students of University of Southern California (USC) as well as California State Dominguez Hills (CSDH) in USA. Dr. Priyanka was also invited to present various seminars and workshops in USA on topics related to premature babies, infant development, behavioral management, autism, ADHD, hyperactivity, sensory integration, Asperger’s Syndrome, handwriting, neuro-developmental techniques etc. She is a member of American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and California Board of Occupational Therapy Association (CBOT), All India Occupational Therapy Association (AIOTA), Association of Neonatal Therapist (ANT) and The Commonwealth Association for Health and Disability (COMHAD). She is also trained internationally in Neuro-developmental Techniques (NDT) and Brain Gym (UK & Ireland). Dr. Priyanka is a registered and licensed practitioner in India as well as USA.
Before joining the Master’s Program in USA, she had her own practice at Care and Cure Polyclinic, Mumbai, India. She was also attached to Larsen & Toubro Health Care Centre, Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) and Priyanj Special School. Dr. Priyanka completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Seth G.S. Medical College& K.E.M Hospital, Mumbai, which ranks first in Asia in the field of Occupational Therapy. At K.E.M Hospital, she worked in paediatrics, neurology, orthopaedics, haemophilia, surgery, cardiovascular and thoracic, medicine, psychiatry, de-addition, plastic surgery and hand rehabilitation departments.
After returning to India in 2012, Dr. Priyanka started her private practice in 2013 at Miracle Clinic, Margao, Goa. She was also senior consultant at Apollo Victor Hospital and Mothercare Hospital in Goa from 2012 to 2018. She is a resource person for handwriting for Goa for B.Ed Colleges like Nirmala Institute, Panaji and GVM, Ponda. She has been the vertical chair for Gift An Organ, Yi CII for two consecutive years for the cause to bring awareness on organ donation
Miracle: Pediatric Neuro Therapy Clinic
Miracle is one of a kind multidisciplinary Paediatric Neuro Therapy Clinic in Goa having branches in Panaji and Margao. The clinic in Margao was started in 2013 and the one in Panaji was inaugurated last month. “We see children with ‘mild difficulties to disabilities.’ Miracle offers various therapeutic services for children with an array of health issues including mild difficulties to disabilities. We have several expert professionals for occupational therapy, sensory integration, speech therapy, physiotherapy, behavioural therapy, psychology, special education, child nutritionist, etc. We also assess using various internationally certified standardized tests for sensory integration, developmental milestones, handwriting, etc,” says Dr Priyanka Raikar
