Transforming Spaces through Sound

How Siddhant Amonkar built Goa’s trusted name in acoustics and high-fidelity sound

For Siddhant Prashant Amonkar, sound has always been more than a science. It has been an emotion, a memory, and an experience that shaped his outlook on life. Growing up in a family where music was loved and cherished, he developed a passion for it at an early age. “I don’t remember exactly how old I was, but music was always around me because of my parents and relatives. I wanted to get the best possible output from sound systems,” he recalls. Alongside music, Siddhant was drawn to electronics, experimenting with amplifiers and circuits during his student years. By the time he was in college, he was already designing amplifiers and exploring the possibilities of high-fidelity sound, a hobby that later grew into his career.
After completing his engineering degree and a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Automation, Siddhant worked with Schneider Electric, Cipla and Optel Vision. The experience was valuable, but his entrepreneurial aspirations were strong. Together with his friends Nagendra and Prasad, he began manufacturing control panels for industries, but his heart was always in acoustics. While studying engineering, he had immersed himself in research on theatre surround sound, Dolby digital systems and custom-built speakers, experimenting with ways to create the most authentic cinemalike experience. His fascination led him to pursue a post-graduate diploma in Acoustic Engineering, which gave him a deeper understanding of sound behaviour. “It took me around three years to build my first professional home theatre, and it was Nagendra who said, why not do this as a business?” That suggestion marked the true beginning of his entrepreneurial journey.
In 2016, he co-founded Sygnus Technologies, with a vision to deliver technically superior and economically viable audiovisual solutions that would allow people to experience sound the way creators intended. From modest beginnings, the company grew into a trusted name in Goa and beyond, designing home theatres, recording studios, auditoriums and conference rooms. The goal was always clear: to build immersive soundscapes that touched people emotionally while maintaining a reputation for quality, reliability and on-time delivery. Over the years, as technology evolved, Siddhant and his team continued to learn and adapt, but their measure of success remained simple. The satisfied smile of a client experiencing sound at its finest.
Every project at Sygnus brings its own excitement, and Siddhant admits it is hard to choose a favourite. Home theatres are special because they create intimate, cinematic experiences for families. Auditoriums challenge him with their scale and technical demands, while conference rooms require absolute precision for clear communication. Studios, however, hold a unique place in his heart because the acoustic design directly influences creativity. “Helping an artist hear their work exactly as they envisioned is incredibly rewarding,” he says. Yet it is ultimately the variety of projects that keeps him inspired, each one offering a new opportunity to craft extraordinary experiences.
A major strength of Sygnus lies in tailoring technology to each client’s needs. Siddhant begins by listening carefully to what people want. Whether they dream of an immersive theatre at home, a high-performance studio, or a seamless conference setup. Drawing from years of research and hands-on experience with top audio brands, he then curates solutions that balance performance, aesthetics and budget. “Sometimes the right answer is a mix: a high-end projector with a midrange receiver. It’s not about selling the costliest equipment, but about delivering the best experience for the client,” he explains.
Beyond acoustics, Sygnus also integrates automation and consultancy, offering clients a complete package. This approach saves time, ensures compatibility and results in spaces that are as functional as they are immersive. For Siddhant, combining acoustics with automation is essential. “Acoustics is my passion, but when it is integrated with consultancy and automation, it creates spaces that are effortless for clients to use and fully aligned with their goals.”
At the core of his work is a commitment to authenticity. To ensure that sound is experienced as the creator intended. This begins with analysing the space, studying its dimensions, materials and reverberation properties, and then applying acoustic treatments like panels, diffusers or bass traps. Next comes the careful selection of equipment, calibrated with precision so that every detail is reproduced faithfully. “I might spend hours fine-tuning a system, but when a client hears the difference, it is all worth it,” he says.
Sygnus Technologies has steadily built its reputation not just in Goa but also in other regions, even handling international projects. Its distinction lies in a blend of client-first thinking, technical excellence and disciplined project management. From initial consultations to final calibration, the process is designed to be seamless. The demo room at Gera Imperium Star in Panjim has been another game changer, allowing clients to experience sound quality first-hand and building trust before they commit.
The journey, however, was far from easy. Entering a niche industry where trust is everything required perseverance. “It took three months to secure our first client and almost a year to get the second,” Siddhant recalls. Taking the plunge was especially challenging since he had left a stable corporate job just before his marriage. The turning point came from the unwavering support of his wife Ratita, his parents, and his close friends Suraj Bhatgaonkar and Nagendra Nagvenkar. “Without their encouragement, I would not have made it through the difficult days,” he admits. Suraj, with whom he continues to share office space, was a crucial motivator in those early years. Slowly, through dedication and networking, especially his involvement with Business Networking International (BNI) he built credibility and carved a niche for Sygnus in the audio-visual market.
Looking at the future, Siddhant is optimistic about the prospects of high-fidelity sound and acoustics in India. The rapid rise of OTT platforms has reduced dependence on cinemas and increased demand for home theatres.
At the same time, musicians, podcasters and filmmakers are seeking professional-grade studios to create content. The integration of smart home systems and the use of sustainable acoustic materials are also shaping trends. “Studiograde sound is no longer a luxury. It is becoming a lifestyle aspiration, and our goal is to make it accessible to more people,” he explains.
Among the many projects Sygnus has executed, one stands out as a milestone: the Prudent Media newsroom. Designing a space for live broadcasting required precision and innovation. Echoes and background noise had to be eliminated to ensure crystal clear communication. By applying custom acoustic treatments, his team successfully transformed the newsroom into a professional space that journalists could rely on. “That project truly put us on the map,” Siddhant says with pride.
As an entrepreneur, Siddhant knows that inspiration plays a crucial role for young people hoping to follow a similar path. His advice is to let passion be the driving force but to pair it with persistence, learning and innovation. He urges aspiring professionals to study their craft deeply, experiment with projects, find supportive mentors and networks, and focus on quality to build trust. “Challenges will come, but every space you transform with sound is a step closer to your dream,” he says.
From a music-loving child experimenting with amplifiers to the founder of a company that shapes how people experience sound, Siddhant Amonkar’s journey is a story of passion meeting purpose. Today, Sygnus Technologies is not just about delivering audio-visual systems, but about creating environments where sound moves people, inspires them and connects them to the very essence of music and storytelling.
