The Tourism Department recently issued provisional no objection certificates (NOCs) to 336 shack operators across the state to erect shacks for the forthcoming tourist season.
The demarcation, which is being currently undertaken, for the tourist season is for renewal of the shack licences issued as per the Shack Policy 2016-19. No fresh licences will be issued this year. Out of the 347 shack operators, the department has issued provisional NOCs to 336 operators, which include 250 in North Goa and 86 in the South Goa beach belt, however, none of them have been the granted final NOC.
The department has stated that the operators have been granted a month’s time to meet the requirements, after which a verification will be carried out, and the final NOCs will be granted to them.
The allotment of shacks with provisional NOCs has been completed in areas of South Goa such as Colva, Benaulim, Varca, Cavelossim, Velsao, Arrosim, Betalbatim and Zalor. In North Goa Calangute, Candolim, Keri, Arambol, Mandrem, Ozrant, Anjuna, Vagator, Siridao and Chapora have been covered
