‘Tis the Season

Get into the festive spirit and choose how and where you want to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year
It is that time of the year again, where you see shoppers rushing to do their last-minute shopping, stores putting up festive décor, homes being all lit up with pretty stars, and the warm, sugary smell of baked goods filling the air.

You guessed it right, it’s the most wonderful time of the year and while the slight nip we usually experience in December has yet to hit us, we are already imagining the perfect Christmas and looking forward to greet the New Year.

For many, Christmas evokes nostalgia. We all dream of a time when the celebration was simple with tinsel, tiny ornaments on a small Christmas tree, bright, shiny streamers; family, friends and neighbours getting together to set up nativity scenes in their villages and homes; eating and drinking without thinking of our waistlines and livers, and most importantly spending time with our loved ones.

It all starts with the cake mixing, usually in October, when fruits are soaked in rum, brandy or the drink of your choice (or everything if you dare to try), and while all this happens at home, hotels in Goa have gone all out and have held tree lighting ceremonies and are on a roll planning their menus and parties.

Some luxury hotels have gone ahead and have planned a curated list of experiences and events in order to add to the merriment of the season, while targeting guests of all ages.

Once a part of a Goan Christmas celebration, one wants to partake in it every year. Hordes of tourists as well as Goans who are overseas will come to celebrate the season with family and friends making this small state the epicenter of Christmas festivities.

Stand-alone bakeshops and budding home bakers are offering personalised Christmas hampers in order to spread the joy of the season.

Different villages in Goa will be setting up Christmas markets where one can find delicious baked goods, and décor for sale, while also providing a platform for local Goans to put their talent on display.

Whatever December may bring, one thing it can’t steal is the spirit of Christmas.

This month promises endings and makes us look forward to new beginnings. Much as times are changing and we are all set to ring in the New Year, this time of the year will continue to be as heart-warming as ever.

It is truly going to be a Merry Christmas from ours to yours and this is the best time to tell you that you are all important to us.

While all we want for Christmas is love and peace, we are definitely dreaming of a wonderful year ahead. Here’s wishing our esteemed readers and advertisers a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2024.
