The State government has constituted a 12-member ‘Swayampurna Goa Board’ under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to define the strategies and policies to make Goa self-reliant.
The Board constituted under Swayampurna Goa programme will be functional with immediate effect. According to a notification issued by the Department of Planning, the Board will work towards developing and studying strategies to ensure the achievement of vision ‘Antodaya, Gramodaya and Sarvodaya’ in the minimum possible time.
It will monitor the overall progress of Swayampurna Goa programme, which was launched on October 1, 2020, through the inspiration of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Swayampurna Goa 2.0 programme was launched in July 2022.
The Board that will meet at least once in three months will ensure smooth implementation of programmes and schemes towards skilling/upskilling/reskilling and suggest ways and means for the purpose. It has to also identify the needy persons in society and their potential for self-employment.
The Board will have to ensure saturation of Central and State government schemes through the Swayampurna Mitras across all Village Panchayats and Municipalities. The Board members will also undertake inspections, field visits in villages or municipal areas whenever required to oversee the implementation of the initiative.
The members of the Board include Secretary Planning, Finance, representatives of ICAR and NABARD, Director of departments of Panchayat, Agriculture, Municipal Administration, Planning and Tribal Welfare, Principal Chief Engineer of PWD and Member Secretary of Goa Biodiversity Board.
Under Swayampurna Goa 1.0 programme, more than 1800 activities like awareness programmes, health camps, Aadhaar New enrolment/ Updation drive, and Identification/Registration of new beneficiaries under various schemes were carried out. More than 24000 people benefitted from various Government schemes.
