Dempo Group of Companies, Chairman, Shrinivas Dempo has been appointed the new President of the All India Management Association (AIMA). Dempo will be succeeding CK Ranganathan, Chairman and Managing Director CavinKare.
Other new appointments at AIMA include Nikhil Sawhney, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Triveni Turbines who will be taking up the post of Senior Vice President of AIMA and Suneeta Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group in the role of new AIMA Vice President.
Shrinivas Dempo is the Chairman of Goa based Dempo Group of Companies which has diversified interests in industries like calcined petroleum coke, shipbuilding, food processing, real estate and newspaper publishing. He is also a part of the Executive Council of Goa University and is also associated with a few non-governmental organizations performing yeoman services to society which include the Charles Correa Foundation, and Goa Cancer Society.
He is also involved in activities pertaining to Goan society such as institutions and programmes of higher education, cultural enrichment, environmental conservation, sporting excellence and affirmation action which all fall under the Dempo Charities Trust and Vasantrao Dempo Education and Research Foundation.
In his capacity as chairman of the prominent petroleum coke manufacturing listed company, Goa Carbon Ltd, Dempo was honoured with the Asia Pacific Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award India a few years ago in recognition of his pursuit of responsible business practices by the Asia-wide organisation, Enterprise Asia, dedicated to management development and ethical business.
The Republic of Italy recently named Dempo its Honorary Vice Consul in Goa, making him the only Indian citizen to hold such a consular position. Of the many offices held by him in chambers and associations in recent years, the presidency of the Western Region of the Confederation of Indian Industry, India’s biggest industry lobby, and the elected presidency of Goa Football Association were particularly notable.
Dempo’s venture into business has been the acquisition of a stake in the Goan franchise of the Indian Super League, a nation-wide initiative to popularise and professionalise football, a sport he adores.
Widely travelled, with an outlook that enjoys people, Dempo is married to Pallavi, who shares his business and social responsibility interests. They have two daughters, Girija and Vasundhara. He pursues yoga, swimming and gymming, holding pronounced views on health, fitness and working out. He also makes time to read, keeps abreast of football and current affairs and listens to music, besides networking with individuals who share his perceptions.
