The Rotary Clubs of Panaji Riviera and Dona Paula have donated ultra-portable AI-enabled Digital X-ray systems valued at Rs 71 lakhs to the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Goa. The official handover took place on 5 September 2025 at Instituto Menezes Braganza, Panaji, Goa.
This initiative is part of the Rotary Panaji Riviera & Dona Paula TB Diagnostic & Cure Program, a Global Grant Program aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of a TB Mukt Bharat by 2025. Under this grant, the two Rotary Clubs have contributed four units of the Prorad Ultraportable Digital X-ray System equipped with Artificial Intelligence to four Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Goa: PHC Navelim, PHC Betki, PHC Curtorim, and PHC Corlim.
The primary objective of this Global Grant is the early detection and timely treatment of tuberculosis, especially in rural and remote areas, thereby reaching underprivileged and vulnerable sections of Goa’s population. In addition to TB, these advanced X-ray systems will aid in the diagnosis of other critical conditions such as lung cancers and other
thoracic ailments during routine checkups, as highlighted by Rtn. Tanvi Sawant, President 2024-25 of the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera.
This Global Grant, valued at US $82,300 / Rs 71 lakhs, has been financially supported by The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International Districts 3640 (South Korea), 5930 (USA), and our Host District 3170 (India). This is Rotary’s true example of Internationalism. The dedication ceremony was graced by the presence of Vishwajit Rane, Minister of Health, Government of Goa, Rtn. Sharad Pai, District Governor 2024-25 of the Host District (3170) and Rtn. Hong Kyoo Jo, District Governor 2024-25 of the International Partner District (3640).
“This grant program is a significant step towards achieving the goal of eliminating tuberculosis from the state of Goa,” said Rtn. Sharad Pai, District Governor 2024-25, Rotary International District 3170.
