Goa’s biggest business expo and summit hopes to attract big business from across the globe.
Over 500 international delegates are expected to participate in the first, Vibrant Goa-Global Expo and Summit 2019 scheduled to be held in Goa between October 17-19 this year.
Additionally, 275 booths have already been booked by the business community in Goa and across India in what will arguably be Goa’s largest business convention ever.
Some of the high profile international delegates attending the summit include His Excellency, Juma Al Kait, the assistant under-secretary of Foreign Trade at Ministry of Economy in UAE; Veronique Moncado, secretary general, Business Club France-India based in Marseille; Ken Vaz, vice president, Babco Foods International, USA, one of the largest food importers in USA and Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, president, Nepal Chamber of Commerce among others.
Likewise, eminent speakers will deliver as many as 25 lectures at the specially curated, Knowledge Series which will be held during the three-day summit. The speakers include, Pankaj Khimji, partner-director at Khimji Ramdas LLC, one of the leading business conglomerates in Sultanate of Oman, Nasser Al Maqballi, CEO, Minerals Development Oman (MDO), a state-owned company, Mustafa Saasa, chairman and managing director of the Dubai based Raj group of companies among others.

The prime focus of Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019 (VG GES 2019) is inclusive development in key areas such as innovation, sustainability, industries, technology, youth and skill development, knowledge sharing and networking.

The knowledge summit at VG GES 2019 will be organized concurrently with the Expo with an aim to bridge the gap between Goan industries and other national as well as international players. According to Manoj Caculo, president, GCCI, the event presented the state with enormous business opportunities. “Several Chambers of Commerce from across the world will be represented at the event. We are signing MOUs with at least three countries and are looking forward to interacting with many others,” Caculo said.

“We visited at least twenty countries and over twenty states in India to promote Vibrant Goa. Everybody knew of Goa but as a tourist destination. When we presented about twelve industry sectors thriving in Goa, it was an eye opener for many. The image of Goa is being widened by showcasing the state as being rich in business and skills – ‘Samruddha Goa.’
“It has been an amazing journey from October 2018 of having worked tirelessly and closely with dynamic personalities, government, corporates, SMEs, Team Vibrant Goa Foundation, core committee members, Team Global Networks, many business bodies, youth women, self-help groups, NGOS, colleges, vendors and services providers – to showcase the first Vibrant Goa to the world. The support which we received from all quarters is phenomenal and continues to pour in,” says Jagat Shah, whose guidance has been instrumental in putting the event together.
Goan businesses to go vibrant
There will be 255 exhibitor stalls at the forthcoming over the three-day Vibrant Goa-Global Expo and Summit 2019 (VG-GES 2019) to be held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Taleigao between October 17-19.
Four sectors, namely the construction, real estate and building materials with as many as 46 stalls; the information technology (IT), electronics and hardware sector with 26 stalls, followed by agro and food processing and light engineering with 14 stalls each, will be the dominant exhibitors at the business convention. The state government’s education department will have five stalls and the Goa government will have four stalls at the summit.
There will be 170 stalls inside the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium, an additional 60 stalls in the air-conditioned hangar outside representing the pharma industry and 25 stalls of the Khadi Village Industries Corporation.
The major companies who have booked the stalls include the Dempo Group of Companies, Alcon Anil Counto Enterprises, Deltin (Luxury Entertainment Partner), Tito’s (World Record Partner), Optel Vision India Pvt Ltd, Vijay Marine Shipyard. John Distilleries Pvt Ltd, Goa Shipyard Ltd, Cipla Limited, EP Kamat Group, AR-Mine’s, Agrawal Renewable Energies Pvt Ltd, Wooden Homes India, Balashree Food Pvt Ltd, Tangentia, Sahanu Sponge and Power Pvt Ltd, Nanu Industries, Manipal Hospitals, Dr Shetye’s Vision Hospital and the Unichem (Social Responsibility Partner) who has sponsored four stalls to self-help groups.
The industries being represented at the exhibition include agro and food processing, building materials, construction and real estate, education, entertainment, finance, IT, hardware and electronics,light engineering, pharma and biotech, renewable energies, ship building and tourism and wellness.
Insightful Knowledge Series and a ‘thoughtful touch’ to Vibrant Goa
Several high profile International speakers from across the world promise to be the big draw at Vibrant Goa. The speakers will deliver lectures at the specially curated, Knowledge Series sessions which will be held during the three-day summit.
Leading this group of speakers will be Pankaj Khimji, partner director at Khimji Ramdas LLC, one of the leading business conglomerates in Sultanate of Oman with 148 years of successful business accomplishments. Khimji will be speaking on “Setting up a business in Oman – cultural similarities and differences.”
Khimji is an Omani technocrat businessman with the focus on leveraging the immense business potential of emerging Oman to the larger benefits of the Omani society. Khimji’s company has more than 5,000 employees from diverse nationalities and 40 business verticals. Khimji Ramdas LLC’s business interests are spread across consumer products, infrastructure, lifestyle, logistics, hospitality and technology arenas.
Nasser Al Maqballi, the CEO of Minerals Development Oman (MDO), a state-owned company that invests in mining projects along with partners from private sector is another high profile Omani technocrat who will be the cynosure of all eyes at the summit. Maqballi will be speaking on “Opportunities in the Mining sector in Oman.”, a topic which has significant relevance to Goa.
Similarly, Dr Mustafa Saasa is another high profile Middle East delegate who will speak on the topic: “Steps for Goan companies to enter Middle-east markets”
Saasa is chairman and managing director of the Raj group of companies based in Dubai, UAE since 1990. Dr Saasa was recently conferred with a doctorate in Business Management and Leadership from the Colombo University. Dr Saasa joined the Raj Group in 1990 and transformed the group from just a family brand to a global brand, revered for its technology, innovation, customer friendliness and product range.
Among the women speakers, there is Veronique Moncada from France who will speak on the topic: “Going global – a cross-cultural perspective”
Moncada has specialized in International Development and Intercultural Management, with a strong expertise in Franco-Indian projects and Higher Education. She has over 20 years of International work experience. Moncada lives and works in Marseilles in southern France, but travels all over the world and can speak Hindi too.
Likewise, Charu Swaminathan from USA will be speaking on the topic of “Innovations in wedding planning.” Charu is the CEO and Co-Founder of Mishkalo, the wedding gift registry for art – where couples can register and select original art as a one-of-a-kind wedding gift, or unique wedding gift that well-wishers can buy collectively rather than the usual gift items that couples may not require or like.
ZERO WASTE EVENT Inovativa Waste Management Solutions company supported by the Deccan Group, zero-waste partners of the event, will ensure that the three-day event is zero-waste. Delegates have been advised to carry their own water bottles and bags.
LARGEST FENI COCKTAIL The Tito’s Group of Goa will attempt to make the world’s largest feni cocktail and get it certified by the ‘Golden World Record’ organisation.
LONGEST PAINTING The Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) Goa Chapter will attempt to make the longest painting on the theme of environment supported by the Fomento Group, which is the eco-partner of the event.
ICONIC STRUCTURE CONTEST The Indian Institute of Architects (Goa) will run a contest to create a sustainable, futuristic design which will depict all that is Goan
