The jewellery house, whose origin dates back nine decades, marked its entry with its business of silver and gold and gradually expanded its trade to diamonds imported from Portugal. With jewellery being an integral part of Indian tradition, the business soon emerged at the forefront of this tradition.
Initially, a small store by Pandharinath Amrutrao Verlekar, Ulhas Jewellers has, over the years, transformed into a household name having been run by three generations of Verlekars. Currently, the brand is headed by Pritam and Vikram Verlekar, who have seamlessly taken Ulhas to new heights in the corporate sector.
Ulhas’ first store, which is situated on a bustling street in Margao market, holds special significance among its patrons. Known for its large variety of designs and quality products, Ulhas became a memorable part of celebrations for three generations in a row, gaining preference among customers.
To cater to the growing demand for its products, the owners realised that their modest store needed to expand further, a step that would soon augment one of the largest collections of gold, white gold, pearls, platinum and diamond jewellery. The entry of its exclusive diamond store with its luxurious boutique offering boasts of an ultra-modern building with sparkling interiors.
Ulhas Jewellers is also Goa’s first jewellery house to be certified as an ISO 9001:2008 company selling 916 BIS Hallmark gold jewellery. They also sell authenticated IGI certified diamond jewellery and other items including white gold, 18 karat gold jewellery, designer jewellery and watches; and an exclusive selection of wedding jewellery and specially imported jewellery.
Adding another jewel to its crown, most recently Ulhas Jewellers Pvt Ltd was the proud recipient of the most coveted ‘Retail Jeweller India Awards 2018’ winning the Social Media Marketing Campaign of the year.
