The Goa Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) as a part of its capacity-building program organized a one-day conference for its members and students, and other professionals at Hotel Varando Do Mar, Miramar-Panaji Goa.
The ICSI President, Devendra Deshapande graced the Conference with his in-person address to the members, students, and other audience. The program included deliberations on topics like “Contract Act” by Nilima Bhadbhade, a well-known Contract Law Expert from Pune’s ILS Law College, and “Alternate Source of Funding via Capital Market for growing SMEs” by Gagandeep Singh a senior officer from National Stock Exchange of India
Limited (NSE), Mumbai.
CS Pravin Satardekar, Chairman of the Goa Chapter of ICSI informed the press that on this occasion, the ICSI through its Goa Chapter also signed an Understanding with the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) to extend their mutual co-operations for the benefit of their respective stakeholders. Both Institutions have a few mutually complementing aims to facilitate business and industry growth, and hence decided to enter into such a formal arrangement for cooperation.
CS Pravin Satardekar thanked Ralph D’Souza, President GCCI, and CS Devendra Deshpande for this significant landmark of extending cooperation between both institutions. He said, “we see a great opportunity in coming together of both these institutions by way of entering into a formal Understanding. This will officially allow both Institutions to put the resources together and serve their respective stakeholders in a more productive way.
- This professional partnership between the two institutions (GCCI and ICSI), would bring to the table many benefits and opportunities such as;
- Common programs for students, professionals, and entrepreneurs in the field of Law, Management, Business, Accounting, Auditing, etc.
- Common utilization of resources. This will help us bring our costs down and facilitates the organizing of more quality programs for the students and professionals.
- ICSI has a global presence and MOUs with many other professional institutions not only in India but across the globe. This will create opportunities for the Goan Students and professionals.
- Both institutions can within their competencies, exchange systemic and business-related information.
- Both institutions can agree to exchange information on general economic status and in particular investment opportunities, trade policies, and legislative changes to strengthen trade, technological and industrial cooperation within the state of Goa, India.
- Any other mutual benefits which may be pursued by both the Institutions
The ICSI delegation, led by ICSI President, CS Devendra Deshpande and CS Pravin Satardekar, Chairman Goa Chapter along with other Managing Committee Members and senior professionals paid a visit to the Chief Minister of Goa and briefed the Head of the State on the various initiatives undertaken by the ICSI and Goa Chapter in serving its members, students and the Nation/State at large.
The Chief Minister was happy to note the activities undertaken by the ICSI and its Goa Chapter. He was pleased to note that in Goa, ICSI members are actively engaged in the activities of the Goa Chamber of Commerce, CII-Goa, the University of Goa, the Goa Institute of Management, etc.
CS Pravin Satardekar mentioned that the Goa Chapter has been working very hard to establish a strong professional bond with the Goan Industry and serve the industry in better compliance management, policy adherence, and strong business growth. The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the ICSI and discussed the scope and areas available where ICSI through its Goa Chapter could participate in the Government efforts to bring in ease of doing business and better business governance policies in the State.
