Famous Goan freedom fighter and staunch Gandhian, Gurunath Kelekar has written a book in the Konkani language namely ‘Kashe Ashille Gandhiji’ (How was Gandhiji) that highlights the life of the iconic Indian leader. Kelekar, has earlier also translated Gandhi’s autobiography namely ‘The Story of My Experiments with Truth’ in Konkani and been the recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for the same.
‘Kashe Ashille Gandhiji’ is a book that reveals significant information on the life of the great leader right from the time of his birth on October 2nd, 1869 to his assassination on January 30th, 1948 with extracts about his transformation into ‘Mahatma’ and the Satyagraha movement as well.
The date on which the 96-page book was released also happens to coincide with his 150th birth anniversary and is divided into multiple chapters highlighting his childhood, matriculation education, education in England, departing to South Africa, his return to India and much more. The preface to the book has been penned down by notable Konkani poet, Naguesh Karmali.
