GSPCB streamlines consent management and monitoring

The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) recently launched the Online Consent Management and Monitoring System (OCMMS) a web-based generic application software package for streamlining the workflow associated with consent management and monitoring system.

This system allows industries to submit online applications for Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO), and also automate the authorisation for various categories of industries and institutions.

In addition, the system is useful for concerned officials of SPCB, to monitor various activities of the State Pollution Control Boards and pollution control committees.

The OCMMS can be implemented in all the SPCBs and PCCs with minimum customisation efforts. OCMMS has been developed with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi.

The software was launched by the secretary of Industries, Sudhir Mahajan, IAS, at a function held in the secretariat.

The state information officer of NIC, Goa, Prashant Thete; chairman of GSPCB, Ganesh Shetgaonkar; Technical director of NIC, Delhi, Anil Kumar; and member secretary of the board, Shamila Monteiro were present at the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, Mahajan stated that this was a much-needed step taken by GSPCB before the deadline given by the Central Pollution Control Board.

Ganesh Shetgaonkar added that Goa has become the 16th state to implement the software, which will help monitor pollution-related issues of industries online in the state
