GSIA HOLDS ITS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) recently at Panjim Gymkhana, Campal, Panaji – Goa. The AGM was followed by the annual function which was attended by Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Transport, Industries, Panchayati Raj and Protocol and Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Chairman, Goa-IDC.

President of GSIA Anirudh Dempo, in his welcome speech, said that his two year term as President of GSIA was a unique experience. He expressed his gratitude to all the members, Past Presidents, Executive Committee members, Office bearers and various Government Departments for the support extended to him during his tenure as President of GSIA.
The President-elect Pradip A. P. Da Costa in his acceptance speech thanked the newly elected Executive Committee in reposing faith and trust in him and electing him as the President of the Association. He assured to take forward the good work done by his predecessors and do his best to live up to the expectations of all the stakeholders.
Mauvin Godinho, the Industries Minister, whilst speaking as the Chief Guest, said “Almost 90 per cent of ease of doing business (EoDB) measures to industry has been achieved. There is transparency in the allocation of land in industrial estates and procedures have been streamlined and simplified. Many steps have been taken to build the right industrial ecosystem. Now, the only thing remains for industry is to grow bigger and create employment”. He mentioned that investors are interested in taking up industrial plots in Goa, looking at the auction premium rates which are much higher than the base rates. He said “With the state facing a shortage of industrial land, the government is planning to set up a land bank created out of privately-owned land”.
A video message sent by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on the occasion was played to the audience. The Chief Minister congratulated the President-elect and thanked GSIA for their support and cooperation specially in generating employment in the State. Aleixo Reginaldo, Chairman, Goa-IDC who was the Guest of Honour also spoke on the occasion. Prakash Kapadia proposed the vote of thanks.
