Government working to boost tourism to provide self employment

One of the best ways to lower unemployment in all societies is self-employment. The level of knowledge among people regarding expanding self-employment prospects has generally increased over the past ten years, thanks to advancements in communication technologies and numerous state government initiatives.

According to Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, the government is concentrating on expanding beach tourism, hinterland tourism, eco-tourism, sports tourism, and agro-tourism with the goal of improving the prospects for self-employment. Khaunte added that two beaches in Canacona might be developed in addition to Agonda to receive the Blue Flag designation. All Goa Private Property Shacks and Huts Owners Association members led by the organisation’s president Dharmesh Saglani, expressed concerns about potential business losses once the Mopa airport opens. They also asked for a single window system for all licensees and NOCs needed for tourism-related business, which would otherwise take three months.

Nikhil Desai, Director of Tourism, issued a warning that all illicit tourism firms will be dealt with harshly and that political influence would not be tolerated.

Desai claimed that two beaches in Canacona are eligible for the Blue Flag designation and that Agonda, which has been ranked among the best beaches in Asia and the globe, is the perfect beach for this. According to Desai, a Blue Flag certification is significant for the state and must be achieved because the accreditation is only valid for a year
