The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) is planning on completing 23 projects worth Rs 465.76 in the next six months. The construction of a new district and subordinate court in Merces costing Rs 120.87 crore falls under the law and judiciary department. The health department has four upcoming projects- setting up of a 50-bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital at the TB Hospital premises, Margao, with an outlay of Rs 11.87 crore; expansion and upgradation of infrastructure of the primary health centre in Sanguem costing Rs 15.19 crore; construction of a 100-bedded hospital in Phase II of the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour, Bambolim costing Rs 35.58 crore and construction of a hospital in Bicholim for the Deendayal Janaseva Pratishthan Trust under CSR of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd with an outlay of Rs 6.98 crore.
The projects under education and higher education include the renovation of the building of the directorate of higher education at Porvorim, Goa at the estimated cost of Rs 6.03; construction of a hostel at the Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Sanquelim with an outlay of Rs 5.56 crore; development work of the Integrated Education School Complex at Cujira, Bambolim costing Rs 14.47 crore and demolition and reconstruction of the Government Industrial Training Institute and the Government Multipurpose Higher Secondary School at Borda, Margao (Phase I) at an estimated cost of Rs 25.73 crore.
The construction of the National Institute of Water Sports Campus at Caranzalem, costing Rs 25.51 crore, and the construction of a football ground and stadium as also a community hall in Verna at an estimated cost of Rs 9.47 crore is in the last stage of completion.
The art and culture department has two projects which include the renovation and construction of the second phase of Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem costing Rs 19.68 crore, and the construction of the new Ravindra Bhavan in Canacona costing Rs 59.27 crore, which is in the final stage of construction.
Other works include the construction of a terminal building at the Captain of Ports jetty in Panaji costing Rs 25.18 crore; re-designing and reconstruction of the existing building and additional construction of a new administrative and training block of the fire department, Panaji costing Rs 31.8 crore; construction of a four-lane bridge in Sanguem town costing Rs 16.88 crore and construction of a modern fire station in Valpoi with an outlay of Rs 7.17 crore.
The projects also include the construction of a new four-lane bridge at Hodar in Curchorem constituency costing Rs 18.95 crore and upgradation of infrastructure in rural areas under the Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) Scheme 2013.
Construction of a panchayat building for the village panchayat of Mayem-Vaiguinim in Bicholim taluka (balance work) at an estimated cost of Rs 1.61 crore; construction of a panchayat building in Mauxi in Sattari taluka costing Rs 1.99 crore, re-construction of the existing building of the village panchayat to accommodate the market complex and multipurpose hall in Sancordem costing Rs 1.63 crore; reconstruction of the panchayat ghar at Siolim-Sodiem costing Rs 2.50 crore and work of sitting gallery and market complex at the playground for the village panchayat of Verem-Vagurme with an outlay of Rs 1.84 crore are some of the other projects that the government is working on to transform the infrastructure in various sectors of the economy.
