A total of 80 schools in Goa are slated to receive specialised multidisciplinary Artificial Intelligence (AI) labs, encompassing kits that span advanced robotics, Smart City applications, smart agriculture, and space exploration. These AI labs are intended for use by students in grades 1 to 12, featuring diverse components like advanced robotics, AI Bionic Arm, space exploration tools, vision visuals, voice interaction systems, satellite communication devices, weather stations, smart health equipment, and a smart city kit comprising various sensors, displays, controllers, and advanced data processing mechanisms.
The establishment of these labs will be funded through the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Division (MPLAD). The plan outlines the creation of a comprehensive teaching and learning platform accessible via a web application, offering a minimum of 32 learning sessions. Notably, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) had announced the inclusion of AI as an additional subject for Class IX starting June of the previous year. However, a month later, the Board decided to temporarily halt the introduction of AI as an optional subject for Class IX students, slated for the academic year 2023-24, in schools not offering NSDF subjects.
