The Women’s Wing of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry felicitated Jyoti Sardesai – Director, FDA Goa and Pamela Mascarenhas – Former Director, Dept of Tourism at the hands of President Ralph de Sousa and Vice President – Pratima Dhond respectively.
Jyoti Sardesai – Director, Food & Drugs Administration continues to outshine in her career and has efficiently dealt with the biggest challenge in her career and her profession during the COVID pandemic. She has played an important role as the Director – FDA and brought forward major reforms in the Health and Food Safety sector. A dynamic bureaucrat, rose to be the Director of FDA where she pioneered many a path breaking schemes specially the introduction of the Ease of Doing Business, and brought the department on par with amongst the best in the State of Goa.
Pamela Mascarenhas – who retired as the Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, was an important figure in promoting Goa in the Domestic and International markets. She continued to be the face of the State’s tourism for three decades during her career, and helped to keep the flag of Brand Goa flying high.
In her acceptance speech Sardesai thanked her team for supporting her and enumerated the obstacles faced and overcome by her during the COVID Pandemic. She was happy that FDA Goa came up with flying colours and has been awarded as the Best State in the State Food Safety Index for four years in a row. She also thanked the Women’s Wing of GCCI for their support.
Pamela Mascarenhas thanked the Chamber for the recognition and requested the Chamber to continue this initiative.
This program was followed by presentations by Dr. Emanuel Gracias to educate women on the topic polycystic ovary syndrome and other ailments and Hameeda Merchant – Nutritionist who spoke on healthy and wholesome nutrition for women.
GCCI Women’s Wing was partnered by Rotary Clubs of Margao Sunrise, Panaji Riviera and Miramar for this event.
Women from all strata of the society participated in the event. Notable participants were Sonia Shirsat, Durgesh Pai Angle, Dr Jennifer Lewis e Kamat , Sanjay Amonkar – Director General, Kiran Ballikar – Director and Utkarsh Patil – Head, Unichem Laboratories.
