The Government Of Goa, FICCI, a premiere business organisation, and Invest India, have joined hands with the 114 years old, Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI), Goa’s premier non-profit business, support-services, and networking organization to promote the Invest Goa Summit 2022. This aims at realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ and the initiative of Goa’s Chief Minister – ‘Swayampurana Goa 2.0’.
A press conference was held by GCCI which was addressed by GCCI President Ralph De Sousa, Invest Goa Convenor Mangurish Pai Raiker and GCCI Vice President Pratima Dhond
Invest Goa Summit 2022 is being organised to kick-start fresh investments in certain key focus sectors such as IT/ITES/Electronics, Logistics, Start-ups and R&D Centres, Agro and Food Processing, Tourism and Allied Sectors, Education & Entertainment. The main objective of Invest Goa 22 is to generate jobs for local youth with focused investment.
De Sousa informed that the Government has promised full cooperation and assistance from the double engine sarkar under ease of doing business to any prospective client willing to make investments in Goa, and also highlighted that the new Industrial policy of Goa is specially designed with single window clearance approach for the benefit of the state. He also mentioned that Goa has huge potential to become a multi-modal logistic hub with the presence of a natural port, 2 airports, and fully connected 4-lanes national highways from north to south. The new Greenfield airport at Mopa will boost the trade from Goa ten-folds with advantage of also serving the neighbouring regions of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
De Sousa added that preparations for the Summit are in full swing. There will be a curtain raiser event on the 6th October 22 evening followed by the main event on the 7th October ’22. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be the Chief Guest, Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho and IT & Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte will be the Guests of Honour.
Tremendous response had been received for the summit with serious investors, Foreign Consulates, Sr Central and State Government officials, other state associations and Chambers in attendance. Letters of intent will be issued to investors by the Chief Minister on this occasion.
Manguirish Raikar informed that logistics sector has a huge potential in Goa. The Goa Government is in process of finalising the state logistic policy in line with national logistic policy which has been unveiled at the hands of the Prime Minister on 17th September 2022 and GCCI is helping with the same.
Further, looking at requirement of land to boost investment in Goa, he informed that Government is in the process of assessment of land parcels, both Governments owned and private.
Raiker added that many agencies like FICCI, Invest India, GIMS, BITS Pilani have played a vital role for Invest Goa 22. The Summit is targeting investment of Rs 15-20000 Cr with 10-15000 jobs for local youth. He profusely thanked the Government of Goa and Department of Industries for their support.
