The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) has invited applications for feature and non-feature films in Konkani/Marathi and Konkani/Marathi/English/Hindi languages respectively, under the Film Finance Scheme of the government, for the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017.
ESG vice-chairman Rajendra Talak stated that those feature and non-feature films, which carry English subtitles and the censor certificate issued between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2017 are eligible to apply for the said scheme. In addition, the scheme is applicable for producers of feature films and non-feature films from Goa only.
Talak stated that in the feature film category, a grant of ₹50 lakh in the A category, ₹30 lakh in the B category and ₹10 lakh in the C category, or 50 per cent of the total expenditure as per the audited statement and income tax return filed, whichever is less, will be given. Whereas, in the non-feature film category, a grant of ₹10 lakh in the A category, ₹5 lakh in the B category and ₹3 lakh in the C category, or 50 per cent of the total expenditure as per audited statement and income tax return filed, whichever is less, will be given.
This grading will be conducted by the evaluation committee consisting of not more than five members from the film fraternity outside Goa, as may be constituted by the Society with the approval of the state government, Talak said, adding that the eligibility and application form related to the Film Finance Scheme is included in the official gazette Series I No 32 Panaji, dated November 10, 2016, which is uploaded on the ESG website (www.esg.co.in). The last date of submission of the applications is August 27, 2018.
It was also informed that film producers will also get additional assistance of ₹20 lakh, if the feature film wins national award in the Best Regional Film category; ₹25 lakh if the feature film wins a national award in any other Best Film category, and ₹30 lakh if the feature film wins Golden Lotus Award at the national film awards ceremony or any international award at a film festival recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations or FIAPF. It was further informed that in the non-feature films category, ₹7.50 lakh would be given to the production if the non-feature film wins an award at an international film festival recognised by the FIAPF, and ₹5 lakh will be given if the film wins a national award.
Besides this, there is an additional assistance to individuals and technicians winning national or international awards at the FIAPF-recognised international film festivals subject to a maximum aid for two festivals only.
Talak also stated that applicant producers will have to wait for a maximum of nine months after submitting the application to get the grants under the scheme, that is if their application is cleared by the evaluation committee
