Once in a while, each one of us yearn for a break from daily life and repetitive foodstuff. And why not? Everyone deserves a break, right? So, if your idea of treating yourself is to indulge in the flavourful palette of delectable Indian/Mughlai cuisine while being surrounded by a feel of lavishness, then Gostoso is where you need to be!
The word ‘Gostoso’ derived from the Portuguese word ‘gostosa’ literally means ‘tasty’ or ‘flavoursome’ and that is exactly what this fine dine restaurant has to offer.
While the food menu is spread across an extensive variety of delectable starters, soups, salads, rice, breads, dals and curries, the drinks menu is also nothing short of a thirst-quenching extravaganza!
To begin with the drinks, while the restaurant offers both cocktails and mocktails; few of the ‘must try’ mocktails include the ‘Clear Blue Ocean’ that is a stunning combination of the classic Blue Curacao, lime juice and a splash of lemonade; the ‘Tropical Delight’ which is an astounding mixture of pineapple juice, mango puree, grenadine and cream and the ‘Minty Cucumber’ that’s a classic fusion of mint, cucumber and lemon juice. These drinks, besides being aesthetically gratifying are so full of flavour, that they will leave your taste buds tantalized!
Coming to the starters, the number of dishes available is so broad and enormous, that anyone would clearly be spoilt for choice! Nonetheless, the ‘Chicken Tandoori Lollipop’, ‘Keema Pakoda’, ‘Chicken Pishori Chaap’, ‘Chicken Irani Tikka’ are few of the many, many starters one just cannot afford to miss!
While the Chicken Tandoori Lollipop is nothing but typical Chicken Lollipops marinated in a tandoori saturate cooked in a tandoor and served with a lip-smacking mint chutney, the Keema Pakoda is meat mince mixed with egg, gram flour among other masalas shaped in the form of ‘pakoras’ and deep fried in oil. However, the Chicken Irani Tikka which is a mélange of boneless chicken marinated in Iranian style masala finished to perfection in a tandoor, is an obvious victor among the starters! Besides, the Prawns Butter Garlic and the Goan darling Chicken Cafreal served together with Cafreal flavoured fries also deserve a definite mention. Now, if I was spoilt for choice with the starters, the main course did not make it any easier either. Spread across a profligate array of culinary magnificence, the ‘South Indian style’ Chicken Biryani which is undoubtedly almost every Indian’s most desired delicacy is absolutely un-missable and rightly so, as every grain of rice and every inch of chicken is so full of flavour and aroma that it just leaves you wanting for more. Also, the appetizing and creamy ‘Chicken Tikka Masala’ accompanied by a luscious Cheese & Garlic Naan (that feels almost like a pizza replete with cheesy goodness) is nothing short of every foodies most desired fantasy!
It is said that no matter how full you are, there is always some place in the tummy for dessert, right? So coming to the desserts, the classic ‘Serradura’ that is a thickly textured sawdust pudding layered with a mishmash of whipped cream and a biscuit crumble is a sure ‘yay’ while the exclusive ‘Qubani ka Meetha’ which is an authentic Hyderabadi invention prepared from dried apricots culminating in a pulpy texture stewed in sugar syrup with a tinge of rose water and almonds served with ice cream takes the trophy!
