You emphasize authenticity and responsibility. How do these values translate into design and customer engagement?
For us, authenticity starts with where we source our materials. Every diamond, every gemstone, every piece of gold is carefully selected and ethically sourced. We believe our customers deserve to know the story behind what they’re buying.
When it comes to responsibility, we design pieces that will stand the test of time – not just in quality, but in style. We want someone to look at their Manek Gem piece twenty years from now and still love it as much as the day they bought it. Our customer relationships go well beyond the transaction. You know, I think this desire for individuality has always been there. Women today are just more confident about expressing it. And honestly, it is not just women anymore. We are seeing men who want jewellery that speaks to who they are, too.

What has been the one factor that has made you a well-known brand in Goa?
Trust. Without question, its trust. Look, in our business, trust isn’t just important – it is everything. Over 21 years, we have built relationships with families who know that when they come to Manek Gem, they are getting authenticity, quality and honest service.
We have become part of their important moments- engagements, weddings, celebrations. When a family chooses us for their daughter’s wedding jewellery or their son’s first significant purchase, that’s trust. That is what has made us who we are in Goa.
As someone closely involved in design, where do you draw your creative inspiration for new collections?
Inspiration comes from everywhere, really. I might see a beautiful architectural detail during travel, or notice how light falls on traditional Indian textiles. Nature is a huge influence – the way gemstones naturally complement each other, the organic shapes that feel timeless. But honestly, some of my best ideas come from conversations with customers. They will mention wanting something that captures a feeling or a memory, and suddenly I am sketching a design. I believe jewellery should tell a story. So, whether I am drawing from Indian craftsmanship or contemporary global trends, the goal is always the same – create something that means something special to the person wearing it.
Which milestone in the Manek Gem journey makes you most proud as a custodian of the legacy?
Celebrating 21 Years in Goa has been incredibly meaningful. we started as a boutique jeweller with big dreams and a commitment to quality.
What makes me proudest is seeing how deeply we have woven ourselves into the fabric of this community. We are not just selling jewellery; we are part of people’s life stories. Their celebrations, weddings and engagements.
The fact that after 21 years, people still choose us for their most important moments, that they trust us with pieces that will become family treasures – that is the legacy I am truly proud of.

You often speak about trust as the foundation of your business. What does building and sustaining trust mean in the jewellery trade?
Trust really is our currency in this business. When someone walks into our store, they are not just buying a piece of jewellery – they are making an emotional investment. Maybe it is an engagement ring; maybe it is celebrating a milestone. These purchases matter.
Building trust starts with complete transparency. We educate our clients about what they are buying – the quality of the diamonds, the craftsmanship involved, where our materials come from. We are not just trying to make a sale; we are helping them make an informed decision.
Sustaining that trust? That is about consistency. Every single time. Delivering what we promise, standing behind our work, being there when they need us. In Goa, relationships are everything, and we have built our reputation one satisfied customer at a time.
Having been rooted in Goa for the last 21 years, what was your vision for the expansion, and how did the market respond?
Goa has been our home and our foundation for over two decades. When we decided to expand, we didn’t want to lose what made us special here – that personal touch, that commitment to quality.
Our vision was simple: take what works in Goa and share it with a wider audience. We invested in better technology, refined our designs, and formed strategic partnerships like our collaboration with Forevermark. But we kept our core values intact.
The market response has been really encouraging. Our existing clients have been incredibly supportive, and new customers appreciate how we blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary style. It has shown us that authenticity travels well – people recognize genuine quality wherever they are.
How do you see the future of jewellery evolving – particularly with trends like personalization and sustainability?
The industry is definitely shifting toward more meaningful, personal connections. People want jewelry that tells their story, not just something beautiful off a shelf.
That is exactly why we launched ReFabulous. It is our way of helping clients transform their existing pieces – maybe grandmother’s necklace that has been sitting in a drawer, or a ring that doesn’t fit their style anymore. We redesign it using their own gold and diamonds, so they get something completely fresh while honouring the original sentiment.
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us – it is practical. When we are reusing materials, we are reducing waste while creating something uniquely theirs.
Plus, we only work with natural, certified diamonds and responsibly sourced gold. I think the future of jewellery is about storytelling. Pieces that have meaning, that get passed down, that connect generations. ReFabulous lets us be part of that story.
In what ways does Manek Gem continue to compete and grow in India’s highly competitive jewellery landscape?
Competition in India’s jewellery market is intense, but I think that is actually made us stronger. We have had to be very clear about what sets us apart.
For us, it is about quality you can trust. All our diamonds are natural and certified by GIA and IGI. Our gold jewellery carries BIS hallmarking. These aren’t just certifications – they are promises to our customers.
But beyond that, it is the personal experience. We listen to what each client wants, work within their budget, and create something that is uniquely theirs. Whether they visit our store or shop online, they get that same level of attention.

We launched our new gold collection to celebrate 21 years in Goa, and it has been such an exciting project for us.
The collection really spans different styles and generations. We have polki designs that honour traditional Indian craftsmanship, and then sleek, modern designs for someone who wants something more contemporary. From statement necklaces to everyday bangles – there is something for every occasion.
What I love about this collection is its versatility. These are pieces that work for different moments in your life. You might wear one design to a traditional celebration and another to a business meeting. They are designed to be part of your daily life, not just special occasions.
