BITS Pilani Convocation 2018 held

BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus’ Convocation 2018 was held in its magnificent auditorium on August 5, 2018. Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani Prof Souvik Bhattacharyya, Director of BITS Pilani – Goa Campus Prof G Raghurama, Acting Registrar of BITS Pilani Prof S C Sivasubramanian, members of the Senate, and faculty members of Goa campus, along with the graduating students and their family members were present on this joyous occasion.

This year, 810 students received their degrees, of which 30 comprised of PhD students. Three students from the Bachelor’s degree programmes were awarded gold silver and bronze medals: Amit Agarwal, Karen Aditi Quadros and Advait Prasad Koparkar, respectively.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2018 was received by Prof Reena Agarwal (Vice-Provost, George town University), Prof Prabhu L Pingali (Founding Director, Tata-Cornell Institute), Prof Arun S Somani (Associate Dean, Iowa State University), Ajoyendra Mukherjee (Executive Vice-President, TCS), Prasanna Gopalakrishnan (Chief Information Officer, Bank of America), Anand S Rao (Global Innovation Lead, PriceWaterhouseCoopers), Anupendra Sharma (Global VP, Siemens) and Tushar Jain (Director, Automat Irrigation Ltd).

Prof Sauvik Bhattacharyya presented an overview of the University’s accomplishments and, in particular, highlighting its pioneering role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education. He concluded by stressing upon the need for students to contribute to the betterment of society with the knowledge and skills that they have gained at BITS. Prof G Raghurama gave a detailed report of BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, offering a comprehensive overview of the advances in research, new initiatives and collaborations of the Institute
