Angelica Da Silva is the first woman Chief Engineer at Public Works Department (PWD)

Angelica Da Silva is the new chief engineer at the Public Works Department (PWD), making her the first woman chief engineer since Goa’s liberation. Da Silva was working as the superintending surveyor at PWD’s Altinho head office till her elevation to the position of Chief Engineer of the buildings division of the department.

Da Silva will relieve present incumbent Santosh Mhapne from his additional charge of the division. She was recently felicitated by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant at ‘Swayampurnaa Samman’ the celebration of International Women’s Day in Goa organised by the State Government. The event was graced by women representatives of the Goa Government, Dr. Deviya Rane (MLA, Poriem), Jennifer Monseratte (MLA, Taleigao), Delilah Lobo (MLA, Siolim) and other dignitaries.

Sonia Kuncalienkar is the new Chairperson of CII Indian Women Network, Goa Chapter

Sonia Kuncalienkar has taken over as the new Chairperson of the CII Indian Women Network (IWN) Goa Chapter. She has a corporate work experience of close to 25 years across different sectors in various profiles.  A Computer Engineer with an MBA, Sonia functions as a Business Development Leader with Tangentia, a software service organisation. In her current profile as Regional Sales Manager, Tangentia Technologies India Pvt. Ltd, Sonia works to create automation as well as custom solution uniquely placed to address specific client needs. Sonia loves teaching and interacting with college students and regularly conducts courses for BBA and other courses. Marcos Gonsalves chosen to serve as the 22nd Konkani Yuva Sammelan’s president

Young author, playwright, and journalist Marcos Gonsalves has been unanimously selected to serve as president of the 22nd Konkani Yuva Sahitya Sammelan. 46- year-old Gonsalves has been writing his literature and other works in Konkani in Devanagari and Roman script as well as in Marathi and English. In the areas of poetry, short stories, one-act dramas, biographies, research papers, and Tiatr, he has published numerous books and articles. Gonsalves has won numerous accolades for both his literary words and cultural performances, including the award by the Government of Goa, ‘Yuva Srujan’. In addition to his professional work in media, he also edits the magazine Umalle in Devanagari, Roman Konkani, Marathi, and English.

 

Prof Irfan Mirza felicitated by FPMRCG

Prof. Irfan Mirza, Director and Principal of V M Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) was felicitated along with other faculty members by the Forum of Principals and the Representatives of Managements of Non-Government Colleges in Goa (FPMRCG) at the hands of former Chief Minister of Goa, Digambar Kamat. Mirza received the honour for meticulously planning, guiding, and leading the organising team in successfully executing the various events scheduled during the two-day AICP’s (Association of Indian College Principals) Silver Jubilee National Conference with a focus on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 held at VMSIIHE, Raia, Goa.

 

Blaise Costabir bags Alumni Achievement Award from Asian Institute of Management

Blaise Costabir, President of GMA, received the Alumni Achievement Award from the Asian Institute of Management in Manila. First generation entrepreneur, Costabir is the head of GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt Ltd, an Indo-French joint venture that produces the well-known brand of water tanks SHAKTI, as well as custom-molded technical parts. Costabir has worked with several business organisations in Goa, including GCCI and the Goa State Industries Association (GSIA). He served as the CII Goa’s former chairman, Verna Industries Association’s past president, and director of Goa Industrial Development Corporation. As an individual, Blaise has always been vocal and fortright with his views, often criticising the powers that be through various media platforms.
