‘Susegad Symposium on Physics with Quantum Technology held at BITS Pilani Goa Campus

The Centre for Research in Quantum Information and Technology (CRQIT), at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus successfully organized a 3-day event “Susegad Symposium on Physics with Quantum Technology: NISQ era and beyond (SSPQT)” at the BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa campus from 3rd to 5th January 2024.

The symposium was aimed at exploring perspectives and challenges in NISQ-era Quantum Technology and the way forward to push the boundaries in understanding physics. Leading physicists from India and abroad with research expertise in diverse topics but working under a unified umbrella of quantum information science (QIS) were invited/ registered for participating to this unique, first-of-its-kind symposium held in India. This meeting was convened by Dr. Indrakshi Ray Chowdhury, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, BITS Pilani KK Birla Goa Campus and was funded by Research and Innovation, BITS Pilani.

The three-day symposium included sessions on Foundational and Theoretical aspects, Experimental aspects, Topological aspects of Quantum Computation, Quantum Field Theories in the era of quantum computing, and Probing out-of-equilibrium Quantum Physics with QIS

The symposium conveyed the need for interdisciplinary research in the quantum information era and how it promises to elevate knowledge in fundamental science. The need for scientific quantum computation is appreciated and conversations are initiated in the Indian physics community which will hopefully lead to many collaborations and success shortly.  Participation and presentations of bright and early-career Indian physicists pursuing state-of-the-art research abroad added new prospects to the QIS research landscape in India which will impact the recently launched national quantum mission.
