Just two months after its launch, ‘White Plate by Chef Jason’, one of Goa’s youngest fine-dining restaurants has already been ranked as one of the country’s ‘Best Newcomer – Restaurant’ at the Western India edition of the prestigious Food Connoisseurs India Awards 2023.
‘White Plate by Chef Jason’ which was started by Jason DeSouza, a chef of Goan origin, in Candolim, just two months ago, also won the ‘Ultimate Luxury Dining Experience’ award at the same event, which was held in Mumbai.
The prestigious awards have been instituted to honour the best restaurateurs in the Indian food service industry, to recognize quality industry practices, endorse successful initiatives and business formats, as well as to celebrate change makers and innovators across various segments.
Reacting to ‘White Plate by Chef Jason’ — one of the most recognized molecular gastronomy restaurants in the state — coming away with two prestigious regional awards, Chef Jason said that the endorsement is “an incredible milestone in his culinary journey”.
“It is a testament to the tireless pursuit of excellence and the creative spark that drives me each and every day. I owe a debt of gratitude to my team, my strength – whose hard work and dedication made this possible, and to all my supporters, who have been with me every step of the way. We are way too excited to continue pushing the boundaries of flavor and artistry and to share my passion for food with others,” Chef Jason said.
A restaurateur, entrepreneur, and flavour savant extraordinaire, celebrity chef Jason DeSouza’s culinary journey began with the Taj Group of hotels. His meteoric rise to the youngest executive chef in the country was punctuated by stints with various luxury hospitality brands in India. An alumnus of a prestigious culinary institute in London, Jason honed his craft in the famed kitchens of culinary royalty namely Gordon Ramsay and Alain Ducasse.
The Food Connoisseurs India Convention is the country’s largest convention for the Food and Beverages fraternity and its awards are considered a toast of the specialized hospitality sector.
While the earlier editions of the convention addressed changes and innovations during and post the pandemic, helping the industry address and overcome the challenges faced, the upcoming edition aims at focusing on micro-trends that have altered the palate, brand and capacity building, food tech, cloud kitchens, food deliveries and a lot more to do with the food business. The Convention aims to foreground the inventive ways in which different champions of the industry conquered the challenges of contemporary times, opening the door to greater profits and expansion.
