The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is organising a Two-Day Capacity Building Programme on Accounting aspects related to GST as an outreach event for the capacity building of the officials of the CGST (Audit) Commissionerate at Goa on 6th & 7th September 2022. The programme was inaugurated by V Soundararajan, Commissioner (Audit) CGST. V Soundararajan appreciated the efforts of the ICAI in organising this training programme and exhorted the officials of his Commissionerate to derive maximum benefit out of the deliberations and hone their skills in accounting aspects related to GST. He was of the view that this programme will also contribute to ease of doing business as the officers will be able to understand the financial statements of taxpayers without the need of calling them to explain the same. More than 80 officials of the Commissionerate are attending the programme. Senior and erudite faculty of ICAI have been invited to deliberate on the various aspects of accounting related to GST. The topics included in the capacity building programme are basic concepts of accountancy, preparation of final accounts, analysis of financial statements with GST perspective etc.
Rajendra Kumar P, Chairman of GST & Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI said that this Capacity Building Programme will go a long way in strengthening the skills and abilities of the officials of the CGST (Audit) Commissionerate, Goa and will enhance the efficiency and working of the tax administration, which will in turn be beneficial for the taxpayers. CA. Purushottamlal Hukamichand Khandelwal, Central Council Member, ICAI apprised that ICAI, through its GST & Indirect Taxes Committee, supports the Government and public sector units in capacity building of their officials in GST and accounting aspects related to GST. Also present at the inauguration were CA. Gaurav Kenkre, Chairman, Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI and CA. Vaibhav D Bale, Secretary, Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI.
