Goa becomes recipient of Rs. 75 Crores from 15th Finance Commission

Panchayat Minister for the State, Mauvin Godinho has announced that Goa has received a sum of Rs. 75 Crores from the 15th Finance Commission for rural local bodies. He further stated that this is the first time that the State has received 75 crores for the purpose of development in the jurisdiction of the Zilla Panchayat and village panchayat areas. While stating that the amount will go directly to the local bodies,  Godinho mentioned that the State Government will only give the approval to utilise the funds disbursed wherein 15% of the total amount will be given to ZP bodies.

Godinho also stated that he had demanded more funds for the local bodies in his presentation before the Chairman and members of the Finance Commission during their Goa visit and shared that they have received twice the funds compared to the previous year.
