Goan entrepreneur and Vinsan World founder, Sanjay Shetye, honoured for four decades of work across events, communications, tourism and cinema
Sanjay Shetye, Founder of Vinsan World and Vinsan Graphics, was conferred an Honorary Industrial Doctorate at a ceremony held in Goa, recognising his contributions to entrepreneurship and the creative sector. The occasion also marked the release of his autobiography, The Architect of Many Confluences, which traces his career, achievements and entrepreneurial journey across multiple sectors over nearly four decades.
The recognition comes against the backdrop of a career built across diverse industries. A former Marine Engineering student who chose entrepreneurship over convention, Shetye founded Vinsan Graphics in Goa in 1986, when India’s advertising industry was largely concentrated in metropolitan cities. What began as a single creative desk has since evolved into Vinsan World, a diversified group with interests spanning media, communications, event management and film production, as well as healthcare, hospitality, travel, education, engineering and construction.
His ventures include Daffodils Multi-Specialty Hospital, established in 2020 to expand access to quality healthcare in South Goa; the Anantashram and Aangan restaurants; Vinsan Travel Assistance Bureau; Vinsan Academy of Film and Media; Capricon Engineering, focused on engineering equipment assembly and eco-packaging; Sandon Projects, a Mumbai-based construction company; and Short Fuse Studio Pvt. Ltd., which is developing a large-scale tourism and entertainment destination in Goa centred on an immersive visual and sound experience showcasing the state’s heritage.
His work also extends across events, tourism promotion and public relations, with Vinsan Graphics undertaking assignments for multiple state tourism boards, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Odisha, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand. The organisation has also been associated with major national events and initiatives involving the Prime Minister of India, and has worked with key Central Government ministries, including the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Tourism, and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Its recent assignments include the launch of ONGC’s Urja Bharat Convention Centre in Goa and the prestigious branding and social media mandate for Ladakh. Most notably, Vinsan Graphics has been entrusted with the historic branding mandate for Mumbai Tourism, including the creation of a new visual identity for the city and various other activities and engagements throughout the year, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s work in destination branding and tourism promotion.
Shetye’s association with cinema has earned national and international recognition. His productions include the Konkani film Digant, screened at MAMI and IFFI and awarded Second Place for Best Film at the 7th Goa State Film Festival, and SthalPuran, selected for the Berlin Film Festival 2020 and the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles 2021. He served as Associate Producer on the Hollywood production Jesus in India and was instrumental in bringing acclaimed director John Landis to IFFI 2008. He also remains the only Indian invited to the world premiere of King Kong at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, where he established lasting connections with international film personalities including Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Adrien Brody, George Lucas, Clint Eastwood, Uma Thurman and director Peter Jackson.
His latest cinematic venture is Bandkhor, an upcoming Marathi feature produced by Vinsan Graphic Production and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar. Centred on the lives, struggles and journeys of six women, the film explores themes of resilience, self-determination and women’s empowerment and is scheduled for theatrical release on 24 September 2026. The project marks Manjrekar’s first collaboration with a Goan production house and further reflects Shetye’s commitment to regional cinema and local filmmaking.
A passionate advocate for regional cinema, Shetye founded the Goa Marathi Film Festival, now in its 15th edition. Between April 2025 and April 2026, he also served as a Non-Executive Independent Director on the Board of Madras Fertilizers Limited, a Government of India enterprise, following his nomination by the President of India.
