Samaj Seva Sangh launches Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at Mahila & Nutan High School
Celebrating its 90th anniversary, Samaj Seva Sangh has embarked on a pioneering initiative that charts a path for the students of Mahila & Nutan English High School to secure a bright and prosperous future. The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics has been established to offer an enriching and immersive learning experience for students, equipping them with critical skills in the evolving digital age.
The Vision: Driving Computational Excellence
This initiative focuses on the core principles of understanding, building, and learning the foundational aspects of computer science and robotics. The Centre aims to provide ample space and time for every student to grasp the fundamentals of technology in a hands-on environment. To accomplish this, three distinct levels of training have been established within the Centre, tailored to various student grades.
A New Era of Learning
In response to the demands of today’s global, technology-driven world, Samaj Seva Sangh has established this Centre to introduce students to the basics of cyber-education. The Centre offers a holistic and hands-on approach to learning, beginning with students in Grade 2 and continuing through higher grades. The goal is to nurture an early curiosity and understanding of technology, cultivating creativity and critical thinking skills.
At the Centre, students are not merely passive recipients of knowledge; they actively engage in learning by building and experimenting with technology. The emphasis is on trial, failure, and iteration, encouraging them to understand the principles behind the gadgets they interact with. Through immersive play and practical exercises, students develop problem-solving abilities and a sense of innovation.
Core Labs of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
The Centre spans three floors, each dedicated to a specific aspect of computational and robotic learning, with age-appropriate content for students at various stages of their educational journey.
1. The S-T-E-M Lab (First Floor)
• Grades: 2nd – 4th
• Mission: To introduce students to the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-T-E-M) through play-based learning.
The S-T-E-M Lab is designed to spark curiosity and foster a natural inclination for innovative thinking. Students engage with basic engineering and computer technology concepts, solving problems in creative ways. The lab emphasizes the importance of collaboration, creativity, and learning from failure − essential components for cultivating an innovative mindset.
2. The Code and Test Lab (Second Floor)
• Grades: 5th – 7th (and higher if desired)
• Mission: To help students learn the fundamentals of coding while discovering hidden talents and unleashing their creativity.
In this lab, students are introduced to both back-end and front-end web development, programming languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript, as well as the fundamentals of GitHub, MySQL databases, and API development. This space encourages students to develop their coding skills in a hands-on environment, making coding fun and accessible.
3. The Robotics and AI Lab (Third Floor)
• Grades: 8th – 10th (also open to 5th – 7th)
• Mission: To provide a platform for students to explore and create robots, learning the basics of construction, coding, and AI.
The Robotics and AI Lab offers students an opportunity to gain practical experience in building and programming robots. The lab introduces them to microcontrollers, sensor integration, and AI concepts. As students progress, they will be exposed to more advanced topics such as data science with Python, machine learning, and the practical applications of generative AI and robotics. This lab promotes problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork, and serves as a creative space for students and teachers alike.
State-of-the-Art Equipment and Facilities
To ensure an engaging learning experience, the Centre is equipped with advanced technology and resources. Each lab features smart touch-screen computers with high processing power, enabling interactive learning. Additionally, the Robotics and AI Lab is outfitted with 3D printers, laptops, tablets, drones, and other tools for hands-on experimentation and project development.
The Centre is committed to keeping pace with the latest technological advancements, and plans are in place to integrate emerging technologies such as laser engraving, drone-based logistics, and home automation systems into the curriculum.
The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is more than just a technology hub; it is a space where students can learn, experiment, and innovate. By providing a safe and nurturing environment for young minds to explore the vast possibilities of technology, Samaj Seva Sangh is preparing the next generation to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Through interactive learning, critical thinking, and creativity, we aim to inspire a new wave of leaders in the fields of AI, robotics, and beyond
