Renowned surgeon Dr Satish Kudchadkar from Curchorem, owner of Shushrulaya Hospital, will be honoured with the prestigious Bidhan Chandra Roy Award for his dedicated service in the medical field and society.
Dr. Satish Kudchadkar, a distinguished surgeon hailing from Curchorem and the proprietor of Shushrulaya Hospital, is set to receive the prestigious Bidhan Chandra Roy Award in recognition of his profound contributions to the medical field and society. The award will be bestowed upon him by the President of India on July 1, 2024, observed as National Doctor’s Day.
Dr. Kudchadkar’s illustrious career spans nearly five decades marked by unwavering dedication, especially during periods when essential medical services such as ambulances, CT scans, and telecommunications were scarce in rural areas. He established the Curchorem branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and served as its inaugural State president.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Kudchadkar is also a passionate sports enthusiast, particularly devoted to cricket. He played a pivotal role in nurturing young cricketers and generously supported sports infrastructure initiatives from his personal resources. His commitment extended to serving as Vice President of the Goa Cricket Association, further showcasing his multifaceted contributions to his community and beyond.
