Workshop on ‘Data Sharing for Open Innovation’ held at BITS

The Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, Dept of Biological Sciences of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus and School of Biomedical Sciences at Leeds University jointly organized a two-day International workshop on ‘Data sharing for open innovation in community-based rehabilitation.” This workshop, held on 28 and 29 September 2018, centered on creating a forum for an open discussion of opportunities and avenues for the sharing of data documenting unmet rehabilitation needs and best practices in community-based rehabilitation (CBR) in resource-poor areas.

The workshop also focused on creating networking and development of a joint research agenda, how CBR data should be collected and shared by partner organization, and discussion of opportunities for data sharing and associated ethical issues and data management challenges. The workshop also had an innovation and design thinking session for exploration of how different kinds of data could enable the development of more appropriate devices. The workshop concluded with all participants heartily agreeing to contribute and collaborate for better rehabilitation programs and creation of policy proposals for government approval and implementation
