JCI World President Marc Brian Lim visits Goa to check on the preparations for JCI World Congress

JCI India Zone XI organised an interaction with the JCI World President Mark Brian Lim from JCI Philippines, who was on an official tour to Goa to inspect venues for the upcoming JCI World Congress to be held from October 30 to November 3, 2018.

After his inspection, Lim stated that there were three key elements integral for the success of this world congress – the venue of Goa, the strong local JCI organisation and the tremendous support from the local government.

Praising the venue, Lim stated that Goa is a beautiful place with exotic locations. The key activity centres of the JCI World Congress are Grand Hyatt, Cidade de Goa and the Dr Shayama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium.

Expressing his happiness at the strong local JCI organisation, Lim praised the commitment and dedication of the JCI Members from Goa, in particular, the initial preparations made by the congress organising committee in Goa. The organising committee of the JCI Congress is headed by Poonam Shirsat with Ashrafali Nizari as advisor. Other key members include Yogesh Kerkar, Sandeep Morajkar, Nitish Raj Victor, Anthony Noronha, Jayashree Thakur, Rajan Satardekar, Saiprasad Naik, Karuna Satardekar and Sachin Kurtikar.

Finally, Lim also emphasised on the strong support from the local government, expressing his gratitude to the government of Goa, especially Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for supporting the JCI World Congress.

Goa Assembly speaker Dr Pramod Sawant, who is also a member of JCI, Goa Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Nilesh Cabral, Chairman of the Economic Development Corporation Sidharth Kuncoliencar were also present during the event.

Chairman of the event, Zone President of JCI India Zone XI Yogesh Kerkar, welcomed the gathering while Poonam Shirsat gave a presentation on the preparations of the JCI World Congress in Goa. Nirmesh Tyagi, Parshuram Shetye and Sarvesh Kauthanker were the project managers. Eashan Usapkar and Mumtaz Shaikh were the MCs for the event and Zone Secretary Mohammed Ahmed proposed the vote of thanks.

Speaker of the Goa legislative Assembly, Dr Pramod Sawant has been named ‘Chief Patron’ of the JCI World Congress, while industrialist Narayan R Bandekar will be the ‘Chief Mentor’ for the event which is expected to bring in 3500 delegates of Junior Chamber International (JCI) from across the world.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Pramod Sawant said that the choice of Goa, as the venue for this interantional event is apt, keeping in mind the ecenic splendour and the rich heritage of the state.

Narayan Bandekar said, “I am happy to know that over 1000 Japanese delegates have confirmed their presence for this international conference. As someone who has done business with the Japanese for over 50 years, I feel that Goa should tap Japan to promote tourism in the state. This is a golden opportunity for us to do so”
