Vasco Pinho releases his latest book on Panjim

‘My Unforgettable Panjim’/  ‘Meu Pangim Inesquecível’, a bilingual book with the historical narrative of the capital city resting on the banks of the Mandovi River, authored by well-known historian, Vasco Pinho is literally a ‘Panajipedia’ providing details of the captivating history, exotic geography and Indo-Latin social life of the place.

“The one objective on the part of this writer was to enable the largest number of readers to have access to a reliable account of the history of our city and her people, its life style – the pride of Goans in constituting the most distinguished community in India,” says the author in his book, adding “Panjim grew in an orderly fashion, clean and with civility. It was in this ambience that Goa and Goans acquired the reputation of being some of the most honest and law-abiding citizens from amongst the people living in the Portuguese Empire and beyond for reasons that were valid and palpable”.


Ajay Thomas is Vice-Chair of ICC India Arbitration Group

The International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and ICC India have appointed Ajay Thomas as the Vice-Chair of the ICC India Arbitration Group (IAG).

Ajay Thomas, an alumnus of V M Salgaocar College of Law, is an independent arbitrator and advocate based in New Delhi.

From 2009-2016, he was Director and Registrar with the Indian subsidiary of the London Court of International Arbitration, also a member of the LCIA India Board of Directors.

Prior to joining LCIA India, Thomas was a counsel with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. In addition to supervising the administration of arbitrations, Thomas was the Head of the South Asia desk of the SIAC. He also served as Assistant Counsel with the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration.


Mandar Talauliker’s documentary ‘Zuzari’ to be shown at IFFI ‘17

Mandar Talauliker is a passionate film-maker. He has made short films and TV commercials, as a director. Having started his career as an Asst. Video Editor, editing promos and television serials, he has his own film production company.

His latest work, a Konkani documentary Zuzari (Fighter), based on the life of freedom fighter Mohan Ranade has been selected to showcase in the category of Goan films at the 48th International Film Festival of India 2017.

“Mohan Ranade’s life story is full of inspiration. Despite fighting for Goa’s liberation as part of the revolutionary ‘Azad Gomantak Dal,’ he was languishing in a Portuguese jail for 8 years after Goa attained liberation from Portugal in 1961. This is a story of an ordeal for his own freedom. Politics, betrayal, and apathy took centre stage as humane grounds was ignored,” says Talauliker.

Prashant Joshi named Chairman of Federation of Auto Dealers

Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations’ (FADA) President, John K Paul has appointed Prashant Joshi, Managing Director of Goa Motors Pvt. Ltd., Goa as (FADA) Chairman for the State of Goa. which is an individual member of FADA is a 3S dealership of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. since 1998. Prashant Joshi is presently also the President of Goa Automobile Dealers Association.

Prashant Joshi will focus on activating the Goa Chapter of FADA and take up all issues of Goa dealers to the national body of automobile dealers for resolution.
