GCFW 2017, all set to surprise
Goa Couture Fashion Week is an annual event organized by Hema Nagvenkar. The fourth edition of the fashion week is to be held this year in October. Over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry has led Hema to curate and organize an event that has helped immensely to put Goa on the fashion map of India and the world.
Through GCFW and initiatives of similar kind, Hema wants to promote and foster the Goan fashion industry on a bigger platform. With no dearth of talent in the State, Hema works hard to support and encourage young designers and upcoming models achieve their dreams of success, too.
Presently working under her own event company, Hema Art and Fashion Co. caters to several brands such as being the fashion consultant for Tito’s London brand and producer for fashion events at Tito’s resorts and hospitalities Pvt. Ltd. Formerly, she managed two boutiques in Baga and Panjim and also retailed in Mumbai.
Hema has a diploma from the JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. She appreciates her academics immensely for the strong foundation that it has laid for a potentially successful future.
In 2014, the first year of GCFW was held at the Tito’s Courtyard. The first edition witnessed few of the country’s most talented, versatile and unique designers who celebrate fashion and contemporary design with their very own stamp of creativity.
The third edition of GCFW, last year, was filled with positive vibes and was held at the grand opening of ‘Fiesta’, the boutique resort owned by Yellow Mehra. One of the major highlights of last year was to have Vaishali Shadangule, one of the most celebrated designers in India who has also showcased her work at the New York Fashion Week and also showcased for Elle in London.
